Syllabus
This course aims to give an overview of the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB)
system. It includes a discussion of audio coding (MP2), channel coding and the
design parameters of the transmission system. It also considers aspects of
receiver design including synchronization.

Exam Guidelines
There will be one question with three separate parts. All the required
information was covered in the lectures; you do not need to study additional
books or papers to answer the questions.
Although you are expected to understand the principles behind and reasons for
the techniques used in the DAB system, you are not expected to memorize the
details. Things you do NOT need to memorize include:
- Detailed block diagrams (e.g. of coding, decoding, receiver design)
- Precise numerical values (e.g. frequencies, bit allocation)
- The detailed structure of a DAB frame
- Convolution coding and viterbi decoding
